Support research in spatial auditory perception, through perceptual evaluation of soundscape recordings under different reproduction conditions, including headphones, 2ch stereo, surround, HOA;

Support the creation of novel sonic artwork in HOA, i.e. soundscape composition, multichannel electroacoustic music, spatial computer music;

Conduct research into the use of sonification with spatial audio, in the context of both auditory display and art/music;

Support existing SCM classes that have course components related to spatial audio (e.g. for film, installation, and games), and develop an MA-level course covering Ambisonics and HOA (tentative title “Advanced Spatial Sound Design”).

Create a series of outreach events and concerts featuring spatial audio, to benefit SCM students, faculty, and practitioners in Hong Kong, and gain publicity and traction for the SoundLab.
