Dr Edward Sanderson

We are delighted to announce a guest talk with Dr Edward Sanderson at 09:00 am on Wednesday, 5th November 2025.

The session is part of SM4143 Sonic Art and The History of Sounds and Noises. If you are not currently studying this course but would like to attend, please contact us, as places are limited.

Dr Edward Sanderson is a researcher and curator focusing on the non-mainstream sonic cultures of the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. They received their PhD from Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Visual Art with a dissertation on the experiences of experimental musicians in Mainland China during COVID. Edward has written and curated exhibitions based on this research, most recently It Always Sounds Somewhere: Sounding Sound Practice in Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong Since the 1990s, at the Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing. They have also established an archive of sound-related material, and organised performances by the artists involved.
